Why trading hours and holidays matter
Before timing a prediction or a trade, the first question is always "is this market open right now?" The US market runs on a big time difference from Korea, and daylight saving shifts its open by an hour — 22:30 KST from spring through fall, but 23:30 KST in winter — so whether a given late-night hour catches an open market depends on the season. This page does that arithmetic for you.
On a holiday no new closing price prints, so a prediction spanning a holiday is settled on the next day the market actually reopens. LDBD works the same way: a prediction made while the market is closed locks in against the last close, and one made during the session rolls to the next session's close, so scoring stays fair.
Sources: full closures follow exchange_calendars (XNYS/XKRX); US early closes cross-checked against NYSE announcements. Updated when temporary holidays are declared.
